For New Families
Arrival and Dismissal:
Our parking lot is a one way circle. It is extremely important that you do not try to exit the entrance to our lot. Morning drop off happens between 8:00 and 8:30 AM. Primary parents wait by the back door of the primary building. A teacher helps students out of their cars and into the building. Elementary parents drop off their children at the back door of the Elementary building and a teacher also helps them enter the building. Parents enter the buildings to pick up their child(ren) at dismissal.
Snacks and Meals:
Lunches are brought from home. We ask that children have healthy lunches without soda / pop or sugary snacks. Montessori Academy is a completely nut free environment. Please do not send your child lunches that include any products containing nuts. Snacks are served from the sharing basket, which goes home with different families each week.
Paperwork and Information:
We use email for parent communication as a part of our commitment to being a green school. Our weekly email newsletters from each classroom, provide a variety of important information as well as curriculum notes from the teachers. "News to Note" will be distributed via email as well. From time to time, we do send home information with your child on paper, and primary students have a parent communication folder near the pick-up location in the primary building. This folder should be checked daily when you sign out your student.
Tuition is due on or before the first of each month; October- May (after payment of September tuition at enrollment). It is important that tuition be paid on time in order to maintain our high quality of education for your child and to continue the efficient operation of Montessori Academy. In accordance
with our green initiative, we do not issue monthly reminder billings. It is the parent’s responsibility to
pay tuition on time.
Payment Options and Late Payment:
We accept automatic debit or checks mailed to us or dropped off by the 1st of each month. For your convenience, we also offer the option of split tuition payment on the 1st and 15th of the month. A service charge of $20 per month will be added to the payment on the 15th if this option is chosen. Other monthly or annual fees may also be debited.
A late charge of $30 will be added your account for any payment made after the 5th of the month. Additionally, a charge of $20 will be added to any check returned for insufficient funds.
Unfortunately, no reduction in tuition will be made for illness, personal absence or vacations.
Our buildings are secure. For more information about making sure you can enter the building to pick-up your child, please consult your teacher.
Primary children may take a nap after lunch. Parents are consulted about each child's nap schedule and endurance level for the school day.
From time to time we hold optional fundraisers. We provide information about these activities in our newsletter and by email. We do not hold mandatory fundraisers.
We go outside every day it is above 20 degrees. It is important to send your child with the proper gear for the weather including snow pants.
Montessori Academy Bags:
Each child is assigned a bag to hold their belongings. We do not use backpacks, because today's backpacks have too much rigid plastic and often do not fit in our cubbies. Primary students keep a change of clothing in this bag in case their clothes become very soiled for any reason.
Potty Training: Primary students must be potty trained.
